05.15.2020 - James Hetfield's 1953 Buick Convertible - "Ice Cube." Mild Buick custom originally owned by Metallica front man James Hetfield. Modifications include frenched 1956 Packard taillights and airbag suspension. In May of 2020 the car was advertised for sale on Craigslist. 04.09.2020 - Tom Renzulli's 1940 Mercury Convertible. Tom's Mercury was supposedly built from the remains of Johnny Zaro's 1940 Mercury Coupe, an early Barris Kustom originally completed in 1948. In April of 2020, the Renzulli Mercury was advertised for sale at EstateSales.org. Located in Escondido, California it was listed as an online auction with a US $1,000 starting bid. 04.01.2020 - Vancouver Moonglow Clone - Chopped 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air built as a clone of Duane Steck's iconic Moonglow Car Craft cover car. Supposedly built in the 1980s. Excellent upholstery work by Dan Chavers of Bend, Oregon. 235 with a 3 speed. Stock running gear. Bob Turgeon's 1957 Ford Thunderbird of Topeka, Kansas. Restyled by Darryl Starbird at Star Kustom Shop, the build was completed in 1959. Known as Le Perle, it won the Sweepstakes and Top Custom Shop Achievement Awards at the NHRA National Championship Custom Car Show in Detroit. The win swept Darryl into national prominence and made him a definite figure to be reckoned with in future championship shows.
