A set of unused California Custom Dummy Jr. that was advertised for sale on eBay in 2012.
Bob Schremp's 1954 Chevrolet Bel-Air of Norwalk, California was restyled by Branson's Custom Shop in the mid 1950s. In 1956 Bob's Chevrolet received a scallop paint job by Larry Watson. The paint job was done in the driveway of Watson's parents, and it was the first car Watson gave a scallop paint job.
Joe Castro's 1955 Ford Thunderbird of Hayward, California. Known as "The CandyBird," Castro's Thunderbird was restyled by Joe Bailon at Bailon's Custom Shop in 1957. The CandyBird is believed to be the second car to have been painted Candy Apple Red. The first being Jerry Sahagon's 1951 Chevrolet. Castro's Thunderbird was dressed up with dual Dummy Appleton Spotlights.
Hilton Vail's 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 of San Bernardino, California. Hilton was an active member in the San Bernardino Krankers car club from 1958 to 1961. He bought the Ford brand new, and completed the build circa 1958. It was dressed up with dummy Appleton spotlights.
Gary Ruddell's 1955 Pontiac. Gary was the President of the Seagrams of Norwalk car club, and the Pontiac was his first car. He bought it in 1959 and began restyling it shortly thereafter. It was dressed up with dual dummy spotlights and Dodge Lancer hubcaps.
Gerald Zielinski's 1955 Chevrolet of St. Louis, Missouri. Gerald was a member of the Road Angels of St. Louis. His Chevrolet was restyled in the late 1950s or the early 1960s and it was dressed up with dual dummy spots.
Donn Conway's 1950 Oldsmobile Four-Door Sedan of Stockton, California. Donn was a member of the Cameos of Stockton car club and the Olds was his first car. He bought it in 1959. By 1961 he had repainted it AquaMist and dressed ut up with a Tijuana upholstery, chromed and reversed wheels, and dual dummy spotlights. Photo courtesy of Donn Conway.
Kalle Jonasson's 1939 Mercury Convertible of Costa Mesa, California. Originally restyled in the 1940s or the 1950s. An earlier iteration of Kalle's Mercury was supposedly spotted in Lynwood, California in 1958. By 1963, it had been repainted in Green Metalflake, and an old photo shows it sitting at a car dealership in San Diego. Kalle bought the car in May of 1978 and spent two years restoring it, giving it his own look. The car ran dummy spotlights when Kalle bought it.
Gary Oliver's 1955 Chevrolet of Pontiac, Michigan. Known as "El Prado II," the car is a recreation of a custom Gary had in 1960. The clone was completed in 1984, featuring a scallop paint job by Paul Hatton, just like the original "El Prado." Gary did also dress it up with dual dummy spotlights.
Nick Semeniuk's 1953 Mercury M100 truck of Courtice, Ontario, Canada. Nick bought the truck in the fall of 2013. Wanting to turn it into a period-correct late 1950s custom, he started restyling the truck in 2018. The build was completed in March of 2020, featuring a red and gold scallop paint job and dual dummy spotlights.
