03.03.1960 - Ed Roth's Outlaw. Mr. Roth advertised his Outlaw for sale in Hot Rod Magazine March 1960. The price was not listed, but Bill Whetstone told Kustomrama that he went from Detroit, Michigan to California late in 1959 to have his 1960 Ford Starliner upholstered. After having it upholstered in Tijuana, he went over to Roth's place. Roth, who had just finished up the Outlaw, came out and looked at Bill's Starliner. "He was asking 2500 dollars for the Outlaw at that time, so he offered to make me a trade. He would trade the Outlaw even for my Ford, which would have been a great deal if I had a tow car and a trailer, but I didn't." After checking out the radical show rod, Bill told Roth that he couldn't afford a tow car, "so I never did make the trade." Thank god for that, as Bill returned to Michigan where he commissioned the Alexander Brothers into turning his Starliner into the Adonis.
