Hot Rods Pomona 1952
Below is a collection of pictures found in the University of Southern California Libraries Digital Archive. The pictures were taken by Mercurio in Pomona, California April 27 1952.
Dave Allison, and Jim Choner, shown with their 1927 Ford Model T Roadster which hit a speed of 115 miles per hour.
Dave Allison, racing a 1927 Ford Model T Roadster finished at 115 mph.
Carlos Ramirez, Mike Magem and Joaquin Arnett with their modified roadster with flathead Ford engine. The body was made out of old car hoods and the frame out of water pipes.
Mike Magem, in the modified roadster with Ford engine that took top speed for the day at 118 mph.
Val Peyton and his 1929 Ford Model A. In spite of a broken hip he received in auto accident he managed to work on car with crutches
Howard White, and his brother Harold White, working on their 1925 Ford Model T Ford.
Russell Dwyer, and his sister Maxine Dwyer, work on their stock 1940 Ford. The top speed was 80 mph.
Virginia Wachel, (driver) and Sergeant Bud Coons are shown with her 1934 Ford sedan that ran 101 mph.
Wayne Wright and his girlfriend Warnetta Swell.
