Grand National Roadster Show - Featured Events

The 75th anniversary Grand National Roadster Show was held from January 31 through February 2, 2025, at the Fairplex in Pomona, California. As the longest-running indoor car show in the United States, the event continued its tradition of gathering some of the finest hot rods, customs, and classic cars from across the country. The 2025 show marked a significant milestone, celebrating 75 years of automotive culture and craftsmanship.[1]

America's Most Beautiful Roadster Competition

A highlight of the Grand National Roadster Show each year is the prestigious America's Most Beautiful Roadster Award. For 2025, eleven newly built roadsters competed for the title, one of the most coveted honors in hot-rodding history. The competition, sponsored by ARP Fasteners, awarded a $12,500 prize to the winning roadster. The lineup included a T-bucket, two Model A Fords, three 1936 Fords, and five 1932 Fords.[2]

Al Slonaker Memorial Award

The Al Slonaker Memorial Award, considered the equivalent of the AMBR for non-roadster entries, featured twelve high-caliber builds, including a 1933 Pontiac, De Tomaso Pantera, Volkswagen Thing, Plymouth Roadrunner, International Pickup, Ford F-100, 1935 Chevrolet, Ford Fairlane, and a 1938 Chevrolet Canopy Express. The award recognized excellence in hot rod and custom car craftsmanship beyond the roadster category.[2]

Special Exhibits and Features

The 2025 GNRS showcased a historic collection of past AMBR and Slonaker Award winners, curated in collaboration with the Petersen Automotive Museum. This exhibition brought together over 50 past winners, making it the largest gathering of previous GNRS champions under one roof.[2]

Another notable highlight was a tribute to GNRS Hall of Fame inductees, featuring historical memorabilia and notable cars from past decades. The 2025 Builder of the Year, Bill Ganahl of South City Rod & Custom, was honored with a dedicated display in Building 4, featuring some of his most renowned custom builds and restorations.[2]

Grand Daddy Drive-In and Barris Tribute

The 19th Annual Grand Daddy Drive-In once again provided an outdoor space for hot rods, muscle cars, customs, classics, and trucks. Attendees were able to display their own vehicles, participate in club gatherings, and compete for awards.[2]

The Barris Display, dedicated to George Barris, the “King of Kustomizers,” featured twelve of his most famous builds, curated by Galpin Speed Shop. Among the showcased vehicles were the Hirohata Merc, Barris' AMBR-winning cars from 1958, 1959, 1960, and 1962, the original Batmobile, Munster Coach, and Dragula.[2]

Special Appearances and Inductions

The 2025 Grand National Roadster Show also featured special guest appearances and inductions into the GNRS Hall of Fame. Among those honored were:
