Appleton 552 Spotlights

George Contaoi's 1941 Mercury Coupe of San Bernardino, California. George was a member of the San Bernardino Krankers car club. He bought the Merc in 1952, began restyling it in 1953, and completed the build in 1956. The work was performed by George, Al Andrade, and Dick Richardson at Dick Richardson's Custom Shop. George dressed it up with Appleton 552 Spotlights.
Fred Rowe's 1951 Mercury Convertible, of Los Angeles, California was restyled by Barris Kustoms. The build was completed in 1953 featuring dual Appleton S-552 spotlights. A second version of the Merc, restyled in 1954 was featured in the movie Running Wild along with Bob Hirohata's 1951 Mercury.
Herb Conway's 1954 Mercury of Lynwood, California. Herb bought the Merc in December of 1954. He had Kinch's Body Shop paint it, before Earl Harman and Dean Jeffries pinstriped it. This version of the Merc featured Dual Aplleton S-552 spotlights.
George Contaoi's 1955 Ford F-100 of San Bernardino, California, was restyled by Dick Richardson's Custom Shop and Barris Kustoms in 1956. Von Dutch striped it and made a mural on the tailgate along with Dean Jeffries.
This pair of Appleton 552 spotlights was advertised for sale on eBay in March of 2020. Located in Menifee, California, they were listed with a US $2,750 Buy it Now price. According to the ad, the spots were remanufactured with fresh triple plated chrome. Click here to check out the auction listing on eBay.
