Anders Lake
Anders Lake (b. 1951-02-24 d. 1975-05-25) from Högdalen south of Stockholm, Sweden was an innovative and very good customizer of everything on wheels.
As many other young kids at that age, Anders mechanical interest and skill generated several modified bicycles and mopeds.
Growing up close to Bo "Gamen" Sandbergs house in Örby they probably became friends in early years.
Some mopeds were shown at the Hot Rod Show in the late 1960s.
It continued with several motorcycles, as one Harley-Davidson flathead chopper with many hand-crafted details in a fish theme.
(Anders surname Lake means in English 'burbot' a fish in the cod family).
In 1971 there was a big hausse of Trikes in Sweden. Anders and his friend Pelle Carlsson found out that using a VW boxer engine and turning
the crown wheel you could place the engine in front of the rear axle.
Using an 40 cm long adapter the weight was distributed well over the vehicle.
Both Pelle and Anders built their own trikes from this concept and both got enormous attention at the Hot Rod Show and in several magazines!
It ended with the starting of "Trike-fabriken", where Anders and Pelle mass-fabricated frames, adapters and other parts to fit the customers need.
The shop was located in the "Hot Rod Barn" in Huddinge (mentioned in other articles).
Meanwhile, Anders talents was discovered by Picko Troberg, racing legend and promotor of Hot Rod Show. So Anders was asked to build some vehicles
for show and/or promotion purposes. Two examples are The Coca-Cola car and Goodyear.
In 1972, Bo "Gamen" Sandberg contacted Anders and assigned him to build the trike Trans-Am. Based on a Porche engine, Jaguar rear end and hand-fabricated frame
it became a show-stopper at Hot Rod Show 1973 Marmorhallarna. The build was featured fully in Colorod magazine.
Anders had so many ideas and projects going on. Tragically he got severe sick in meningitis and died only 24 years young in 1975.
The show car Drynur by Anders Nordin is based on a TVR bought from the Sterbhouse of Anders Lake in 1975.
Anders N customized the car as a homage to Lake, many details on the car has the same fish theme as on the motorcycles.
