Tore Madsen's 1956 Ford
1956 Ford Thunderbird originally owned by Jon "T-Bird" Pedersen of Oslo, Norway. Jon's Thunderbird was smuggled into Norway by a sailor, and it ended up being sold at a customs auction. Not a custom car auction, but an auction held by the customs of Norway. Jon bought the car in 1964. In 1968 he sold it to Tore Madsen of Trondheim, Norway. Tore rebuilt and painted the car after he got it. After being involved in an accident in 1969 Tore had to rebuild the car. The rebuild included replacing the frame. After completing the rebuild, Tore attended shows in Norway and Sweden with the mildly customized Thunderbird. In March of 1975 it took home awards for "Best Custom Car" and "Best Interior" at the Hot Rod Show in Stockholm. It was also shown at Oslo Motorama in 1975, where it also won awards for Best Interior and Best Custom Car. In addition to that it did also become 4th car of the show. This version of the car featured a 1968 Ford Shelby Mustang engine and transmission. The upholstery was done in white leather. Tore was a car painter by trade, and he repainted the car almost for each season in the 1970s. According to the Norwegian magazine USCars, the Thunderbird has at least been yellow, pink, white and black.[1]
In 2015 Tore's old Thunderbird was owned by Manuel Normann.[2]
