Ry Cooder
Ryland Peter "Ry" Cooder (born March 15, 1947 in Los Angeles, California) is an American musician, songwriter, film score composer, and record producer. Ry is best known for his slide guitar work, his interest in roots music from the United States, and his collaborations with traditional musicians from many countries.[1]
Pinstriping and Cars
Ry grew up in Santa Monica, California, and he graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1964.[1] In 2018 Ry told Dan DeLuca of the The Inquirer that he was into cars when he was growing up; "I liked cars. I wanted to be a car pinstriper." According to Ry, Von Dutch was the king and Dean Jeffries was the prince. "The designs were easy, but the brush work and the technique was so hard. I couldn't do it."[2]
