Rosamond Dry Lake
Rosamond Dry Lake is a dry lake bed located in the Mojave Desert near the town of Rosamond, California. In the 1930s and early 1940s, it was one of several dry lakes used by Southern California hot rodders for early speed trials. Alongside Muroc and El Mirage, Rosamond provided a wide, flat, and secluded space where young racers could safely test their hopped-up machines. Though it saw less use after WWII, when El Mirage became the primary site for SCTA events, Rosamond remains an important early chapter in the history of dry lake racing and hot rod culture.
