Karl Berns
Karl E Berns Jr. was a well-known custom painter. Karl ran Mr B's Custom Shop, and he was widely known as "Mr B" amongst customers and friends. Karl was Ronn Sutton's uncle, and in October of 2021 Ronn told Sondre Kvipt of Kustomrama that his uncle's name was often misspelled "Carl Burns." Amongst family, he was known as "Ed," his middle name. Karl Berns spelling is German because that's where Ronn's mother's side of the family is from.[1]
First Shop
"Our dad was a car guy," Karl's sister Glenda told Sondre Kvipt in October of 2021, "and he bought a 48 Ford 2 door sedan for my brother when he was 14 to work on. They built up the flathead engine and dad taught "Eddy" how to do bodywork and paint. He was great at both. He started doing custom wheel painting for friends and other small custom paintwork. By the time he graduated high school he had his first shop going."[2]
Karl passed away in 2011. He was 65, and according to his sister Glenda, he continued doing custom and standard painting and bodywork on cars, motorcycles, boats, and all types of stuff up until he passed away.[2]
