Mike Smith's 1962 Chevrolet
1962 Chevrolet Impala owned by Mike "Mr. M" Smith of Torrance, California. Mike ran and operated Mr. M's Custom Chrome Center, and the Impala was his personal car. Mike's Impala featured a full green metalflake paint job by Carl Burns of Mr B's Custom Shop. The upholstery was done by Gil's, while Mark La Palme paneled the dash. Later, the car suffered some damage in a traffic accident so panels in a contrasting shade were added to the sides by Joe Andersen of Joe Andersen's Custom Shop. This version was called the Mint Julip. By 1968 the Mint Julip had also been fit with lifts by Red.[2]
Later on, the car was owned by Micky Fey. Micky lived in Hawthorn or Lawndale. At the time there was a South Bay chapter of the Hell's Angels, and Micky wanted to join them. He was into motorcycles by then, and not custom cars, and decided to sell the Impala.[3]
