1950 Ford restyled by Barris Kustoms and Rich for Curt Mendalson of Los Angeles, California. In 1958 Curt's Ford was nominated as one of 28 "Top Customs of the Year" in Motor Life July 1958.[1] The front fenders were modified in order to accept a 1957 DeSoto quad headlight setup. Jeep lenses were used along with special made 6 volt bulbs. A set of 1957 Mercury fenderskirts were cut and reshaped to fit the ford fender. Reversed 1954 Dodge side trim was installed to match the contour of the skirts.[2] The door handles were flushed operated electrically. The trunk handle was removed and a piece of sheet metal covering was frenched to the deck lid concealing the license light and latch. Dual exhaust outlets were made thru the shaved and smoothed bumper. The car was lowered 5 inches, leaving 3 inch ground clearance. A set of 1957 Oldsmobile 98 taillights were installed in the rear, giving the car another appearance. The trunk compartment was given a lot of attention. It was done in white Naugahyde. Curt installed a television himself, it worked off a voltage converter. According to Car Craft February 1958, Rich & Jones did the restyling.[3]

In 1958 Curt's Ford was shown at the first annual Santa Ana Rod & Custom Autorama. According to the souvenir program the car had been customized twice. Curt's name is listed as Curtis Mendelson in the program.
