Unknown Colorado Junkyard Sport Custom
1947 Kaiser Sport Custom. In 2013 the car was located at a junkyard in Payton, Colorado, owned by Duane Hayes. Chris Savaglio and a buddy came across the car in 2014. Built from a Kaiser sedan, the front of the car featured dual stacked headlights, indicating that it could have been built or upgraded in the late 1950s or the 1960s. The rear of the car features a low trunk, giving the car huge fins. A cut-down bumper is placed between the fins. Under the rusty hood, it featured an inline-six flathead engine.
Gone
Chris Stames came across the car in the Payton junkyard in 2013. He wanted to buy it and bring it with him, but before he could pull the money together, the unique car was gone. According to Chris, the location was a 1,200-car junkyard where roughly half of the cars belonged to a gentleman from Sweden.[1]
Sold to Rodney Ufferts
Rodney Ufferts of Woodland Park, Colorado, came across the Kaiser in Hayes' junkyard in June or July of 2014. He asked Hayes about it, and he could tell him that he'd had it for quite some time. Ufferts fell in love with the old Kaiser, and he returned to Hayes after a week or so to make a deal on it. Hayes knew the two previous owners, but it was in the same shape when they had it. By 2016, both of the previous owners had passed away.[2]
