Tim Smith's 1951 Ford
1951 Ford Victoria hardtop restyled by Dick Page for Tim Smith of Tacoma, Washington in 1965. The car was nosed and decked, but as Tim was on a tight budget 1949 Ford headlight rings were installed instead rather then performing a frenching. A 1954 Chevrolet grille was mated to the stock grille ends and parking lights. The door handles were shaved, but as electrical solenoids weren't installed, you had to reach in the windows top open the doors. The stock side trim was shortened and the stock taillights were swapped for 1949 Ford taillights. Tim's Ford was a hardtop Victoria, so after Dick had chopped it, Bob Jasper padded the metal top to reduce metal working costs. To further reduce costly metal work, Dick used the complete stock upper half of a 1952 Ford station wagon tailgate for the window. Once the bodywork was done, Dick painted the car a stock Chevrolet gold color for repairability. Darker candy shading was added to the bottom of the body to lighten the mass visuality.[1]
