Newhouse Automotive Industries
Newhouse Automotive Industries of Los Angeles, California sold speed equipment, dress-up accessories, and auto parts. In 1949 the shop was located at 5941 Hereford Drive in Los Angeles. By 1951, Newhouse was one of the largest companies in the world dealing with racing equipment and special accessories to increase mileage of passenger type cars. Virtually every make and brand of heads, manifolds, ignitions, and other equipment could be bought from Newhouse. When Hop Up Magazine featured Newhouse in their "Meet the Advertisers" story in Hop Up September 1951 a staff of seven girls processed the mail and prepared the invoices and special mailings. Hundreds of letters and orders were received daily. In addition to the larger items, almost 4,000 of the little carburetor Air-Flow Needles alone were shipped out every month.[1]
