Mike Shelley's 1934 Ford
1934 Ford 3-window coupe owned by Mike Shelley of Oakland, California. In 2017 Mike told Kustomrama that he believes he bought the car in 1955; "It was a basket case. I also found a second one, another basket case, to completely build the first one. I channeled the second one and made it my street rod, with a Chrysler Hemi with six two-barrel carburetors and an automatic transmission. I would take bets from other guys that their car could beat my 34, then bring my street rod to the race. Most guys backed out when I arrived."[1]
6 tickets
One summer night the police caught Mike drag racing on the street and wrote him 6- tickets with 2-violations a ticket. The violations were:
- Drag racing on the street.
- Having a 4"- dropped axle.
- No license plates on the front of the car.
- Headlights at the wrong level.
- No windshield wipers.
- Sitting too far back in the cab out of site.
- Rear fenders cut to high.
- No mufflers.
- Excessive noise.
- Seats not bolted to the frame.
- No mirrors.
- No emergency brake.[1]
Sold and Gone
Mike believes he sold the coupe in 1969, for $700.00. He can't remember who he sold it to.[1]
