In the early fifties, Lynn was a member of the Hoodlifters Car Club of Ohio. In 1951 Lynn's channeled 1932 Ford Roadster was featured in Trend Book 102 Hot Rods, wearing a Hoodlifters plaque. Lynn built his roadster while being stationed at the Air Force in Ohio in 1949. The year before he had attended the first Hot Rod Exposition held at the National Guard Armory in Los Angeles, California. At the show Lynn had seen Doane Spencer's 1932 Ford Roadster, and wanted to build his own version of the car.[1] Some years later Lynn actually bought the Doane Spencer Roadster, the car that had inspired him to build his own Roadster in 1949.

Lynn hung around Rod & Custom Magazine since its inception, but wasn't listed on the masthead until the Rod & Custom January 1956 issue.

Lynn designed the Rod & Custom Magazine’s Dream Truck incorporating design ideas from more than 2500 readers.

He also designed the Del Mar for Tad Hirai.
