Leonard Brown's 1958 Chevrolet
1958 Chevrolet Corvette owned by Leonard Brown of Long Beach, California. Scott Russell bought the car in 1996. He was told that it had been stored under blankets in Long Beach from 1964 until he bought it. It was supposedly built by Keith Black, and painted by Larry Watson at Watson's House of Style. Gold was used as base before several layers of clear blue were applied. The front end was restyled and made cleaner by removing the teeth in the grille. Inside, the car was fit with a pleated white interior with blue pipings and white wool carpets. A matching upholstery was installed in the trunk of the car as well. Everything is chromed, hinges, door locks etc. The deep lacquer was cracked all over when Scott bought it. The deep paint was unreal, and according to Scott, water and a white t-shirt would turn the t-shirt indigo blue. It had a 8 belt Tom Beatty blower, chrome reverse wheels and Long Beach Recap Co tires, and it ran great. It had the original 283 engine, 3 speed transmission and the 4:11 rear end. All paint marks from the factory were still on the frame. Scott had to redo the brakes, put new points in the original distributor, recore the radiator and put seals in the blower. One piece of trim and the flags were not installed when he got it.[1]
