James Stanfield's 1956 Ford
1956 Ford Fairlane owned by James Stanfield. Sometime prior to 1965 James moved from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, bringing the car along. In 2019, James son, Evan, told Sondre Kvipt of Kustomrama that his dad found a painter that worked out of his garage. "He asked him to paint something on the car. The artist painted a purple Octopus on the hood." The artist was non-other than Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. At the time, the car was a white two-door. It was on a rake, and it had straight exhaust with caps coming out behind the front wheels. "Ed Roth also took my dad's yellow biker cap, painted some black on his tires, and had him run over the hat so he had a tire tread going over his head." Evan believes his dad lived in Pasadena when he had the car painted by Roth.[1]
Have you ever seen a 1956 Ford Fairlane with a purple octopus on its hood?
Unfortunately, James lost all of his photos of the car in a fire. Evan is currently trying to trace any photos of the car, so if you have one, please get in touch with Kustomrama at mail@kustomrama.com.
