Jack and Carolyn Kiely's 1950 Mercury
1950 Mercury Convertible owned by Jack and Carolyn Kiely of Rumson, New Jersey. Jack and Carolyn's Mercury was restyled by IDA Automotive, and in 2018 Rob Ida told Sondre Kvip of Kustomrama that the roof on the car was carefully restyled to have exactly the look they were after without compromise; "To add to the challenge was that the roof would also need to hydraulically fold down and fit into the car," Rob told Sondre. "From the inside, all bows and hardware were carefully fabricated too look and feel as if FoMoCo did it in 1950." The body is otherwise stock, slightly lowered suspension. Burgundy interior compliments the green paint. Cadillac Sombrero hubcaps and Firestone bias plies wide whitewall tires keep it looking right.
Power comes from a canned up Flathead with a McCulloch supercharger, and according to Rob, it sounds amazing and runs strong. The engine and supercharger were intended to appear as if it were a rare factory Mercury option.
