A photo of Gene Thurman's 1934 Ford 5-Window Coupe taken at El Mirage Dry Lake in October of 1951. Gene and Bob served in the Air Force in Korea at the time, but they were on leave when this photo was taken. During the event, Gene ran a 1/4" stroked flathead 59A engine that belonged to Bob. The coupe ran 119 MPH with Bob's engine. From left to right in the photo are Ed Thurman, Gene's dad, Leonard, a friend of Gene, Bob Herzog, and Jerry Herzog, Bob's dad. Dale Sinner and Weston Dick's 1934 Ford Three Window Coupe. In October of 2016, Dale told Kustomrama that the coupe was chopped, channeled and fit with an Indy type nose: "We built the car with help. I had this car with a buddy, and we clocked it at El Mirage at 130mph in 1950. " Photo courtesy of Dale Sinner.

Drag-Ons was a car club organized under Bell Timing Association. Most of the members were from the Bell and Maywood area. In October of 2016 Dale Sinner told Kustomrama that most of the guys in the club were drafted into the Army in 1951; "After our service in 1953 Bell Timing Association had dried up and was no more. It was replaced by drag racing at Santa Ana Airport."

In 1951 Ralph "Rip" Carter was Vice-President of the club.
