Dave Chavis' 1951 Kaiser
1951 Kaiser restyled by George Cerny's Body Shop for Dave Chavis of South Gate, California. Dave started the build by nosing and decking it and doing minor grille work in his own backyard. He turned the car over to George Cerny in Compton, California for the frenching of headlights, removal of parking lights and the black paint job. The door handles were shaved and replaced with push-buttons latches from a 1947 Lincoln. A special exhaust system with tips escaping from the lower body panels and contouring the rear fender was built by the Advance Muffler Company. The front end appearance was changed considerably by shortening the top grille bar to fit its present position, which originally wrapped around the front fenders. The interior of the car was upholstered in red and black. The stock upholstery on the top of the dash were removed and the dash repainted. Once the bodywork was done, Dave had the car lowered 5 inches in both front and rear.[1]
October 26 to November 1, 1953 Dave's Kaiser was shown at the 4th annual Motorama in Los Angeles, California.[2]
