The Columbia two-speed rearend is a popular aftermarket conversion that provides both a low gear ratio for around-town power and a higher ratio for smooth cruising and lower revs on the highway. It was first offered by Ford in 1934, then it became a factory option for their V8 cars in 1939.[1]
