Butch Gardner

Butch Gardner is a member of the Sacramento Thunderbolts Car Club, where he also was president for a period. Butch has been involved with Hot Rods & Cool Cars since the early 60's in SoCal. His first true Hot Rod was a 1932 Ford coupe that had been retired from racing at El Mirage Dry Lake. He drove to Sacramento in 1966 in a bright red 1964 Comet Cyclone which was his daily driver. During the last 40 years he has owned and built dozens of Cool cars, his 1934 Ford sedan delivery "RAPID TRANSIT" and the recently restored Candy Apple Joe Bailon 1952 Mercury convertible full custom are 2 rides that are currently in his garage.


He has belonged to the Capitol Auto Club "Thunderbolts" since 1974 and is a founding and current member of the Hang Town Cruisin Association in El Dorado Co. He has been involved in organizing and promoting car shows and other automotive events for many years(through his Artesia Street Rod Promotions business) and has been the on the show staff for the Grand National Roadster Show and Sacramento Autorama and has been inducted into the "Legends of the Autorama Society" for his many years of work and support. Throughout these many years he has contributed his automotive knowledge and humor to local newspapers, radio & TV shows and has hosted the Hot August Nights Cruise of Champions for the many years.[1]


Each Sunday Butch hosts the Cruisin Garage & Swap Shop radio show at the KAHI Radio. The show is aimed at anyone who owns and/or is interested in the hobby/history of restoring or individually personalizing a vehicle ie; Classic, Custom, Hot Rod or Muscle car. Butch and his sidekick talks about cool cars, events, old & new trends plus automotive politics in and around the Foothills, Sacramento and California that will effect our hobby.
