1950 Mercury originally owned and restyled by Les Scarlett. Les chopped the top on the Mercury 4 inches in front, and 7 inches in the rear.[1] The rear wheel wells were radiused, and the car was lowered up front by swapping the spindles from side to side and inverting them. The operation was covered in Trend Book 116 Custom Cars 1955 Annual. The rear was lowered by installing 4 inch lowering blocks.

Les' Mercury was also featured in Trend Book 143 Restyle Your Car. By then it had been sold to Bob Feldner of Los Angeles, California. According to that story the car was lowered by channeling the body, something that was not the case.
