Bill Dyne's 1951 Mercury
1951 Mercury owned by Bill Dyne of Burlington, Washington. Bill's full custom Merc was chopped with the B-pillar removed, nosed, decked and shaved for door handles. The top was chopped 3 1/2" up front, and 5" in the rear. The headlight were frenched by using 1953 Ford headlight rims, and the stock grille was removed in favor of a 1951 Kaiser bar. The grille cavity was molded and the hood corners were rounded. Bill used Buick spears to trim up the sides. Fender skirts and lakes pipes were added, but no spotlights were installed. The car featured a full tuck & roll upholstery. The Flathead was swapped with a 1952 Oldsmobile 403 Rocket V8, with two 4brl carburetors, Iskenderian E-4 cam, headers, bored and stroked 4". The firewall and fender panels were zolatoned.[1]
