The Bean Bandits Club started in 1949 as members of a club called the Cam Pounders. But this name would change in early 1951 to become the Bean Bandits. Many stories have been told as to where the name came from. Centered around the prominent enlistment of club members being Mexican, they were commonly called the Beaners.
