1937 Studebaker Dictator Coupe restyled by Lumo Automotive for Arto Riip from Lieto, Finland. Named "Miracle," the car made its debut at the 10th annual Kustom Kulture show in Helsinki in February 2024.

Design and Customization

Originally manufactured in 1937, this Studebaker Dictator Coupe underwent a significant transformation at the hands of Lumo Automotive. In December 2020, the customization process began, focusing on enhancing the car's classic features while integrating modern automotive technology. The coupe features a distinctive chop, with the top being reduced by 2 inches in the front and 3 inches in the rear, giving it a sleek and lowered profile. The headlights have been lowered to complement the chop, and the grille has been custom-fabricated to accentuate the car's unique appearance. Bumpers from a Chrysler Airflow have been reshaped to fit the Studebaker's contours, and Lincoln Zephyr taillights have been added to maintain the vintage aesthetic. The classic look is completed with a paint job by Automaalaamo Helin and an interior by Verhoomo Prima, featuring a 1940s style steering column by Iditit.

Mechanical Modifications

The stock frame of the car was modified to include a Kugel Komponents Independent Front Suspension (IFS) and a Ford 8-inch rear end with air suspension, improving the ride quality and handling. Under the hood, the original engine was replaced with a 1957 Chevrolet 283 V8 by Slope Service, paired with a TH200-R4 transmission by Janne Leppälä, blending classic car design with robust modern performance.

Miracle

"Miracle" stands as a testament to the art of custom car modification, balancing historical preservation with innovative automotive design. Its debut at the Kustom Kulture show in Helsinki marked it as a highlight of the event, celebrating the rich history of the custom culture and the craftsmanship of Lumo Automotive.
