Tommy Milton was an early dry lake racer. On April 4, 1924, Tommy ran a Miller powered race car at Muroc under AAA supervision. The small 183 ci engine pulled the car to a clocked speed of 151.26 mph, only 5 mph under Milton's land speed record.[1]
