The original purpose of the Society of Land Speed Racing Historians is to preserve the history and heritage of landspeed and dry lakes racing, to promote the hot rodding culture and to work towards a permanent repository where artifacts can be safely kept and restored for future generations. Another goal is to encourage historians, photographers and others to publish their books and photographs.[1]
The Society of Land Speed Racing Historians sends a weekly newsletter. The first newsletter was sent October 18, 2007. At the time the society consisted of 7 members. Jim Miller was the temporary chairman at the time.[1]
