Silver Dollar
The "Silver Dollar" was built by David Bergström of Sollentuna, Sweden.
He got inspired by an U.S. built T-23 called "Liber-T" from a magazine and decided to do a clone.
The car is traditionally built with 50x100x4 mm frame, Chevy smallblock, TH350 and Jaguar XJ6 rear-end.
In front a chrome tubular axle and a brass radiator cover and lights.
Appliance spoke wheels in back and MC wheels in front. Two real silver dollar coins was mounted as hubcabs in front.
The T-23 body from K-O Englund was placed on top of the frame and painted like the U.S. model by Ivve Hallberg. Interior and top in light blue vinyl by Tore Ström.
The car was first displayed at Hot Rod Show 1978 Sollentunamässan where he was awarded 1st price in Hot Rod Roadster.
The intention from David was to get the car street-legal despite the tough regulations in Sweden at that time.
He had consulted a lawyer to find different ways to achieve this.
Unfortunately, during welding work on another car at David new house in Åkersberga, the car took fire by leaking gasoline.
The whole house was burned down together with the two cars!
Lately, David started to build another car but it was never finished.[1]
