Mick Anderson's 1964 Ford
1964 Ford Anglia owned and restyled by Michael "Mick" Anderson of Low Fell, a suburb of Gateshead in United Kingdom. Mick has been into custom cars from an early age. His mother worked in a wholesale newspaper chain and she brought him Hot Rod Magazines.[1]
The Anglia was Mick's first custom. Influenced by all the big names in the magazines he used to get from his mother's newsagent he started restyling it in 1973, giving it a panel paint job. " I had many "how-to" little pages and lots of custom mags which gave me loads of ideas. I just wanted to build something different but was on a very limited budget at that time so went with what I had," Mick told Sondre Kvipt of Kustomrama in 2019.[1]
He ran it with a panel paint job for a year before he became more adventurous. "The new version had a 7" chop, lowered, nosed and decked, shaved door handles, canted quads and floating button grill, tunneled tail lights and twin sunken aerials. The interior was button-tufted velvet and the paint was a blue Metalflake," [1]
Mick ran the car for a couple of years before he sold it off. In 1978 he decided to buy it back and restyle it further, "I suicided the doors and painted it silver flake with red scallops and made a tube grill. I also ran hydraulics on the rear but they were a bit crude and after another couple of years, I redid the suspension and painted the car in two-tone silver and red using an A35 Austin trim to separate the colors."[1]
Unfortunately, the car was totaled in a crash after Mick sold it in 1981.[1]
