Lars Skogberg's 1932 Ford 5-Window Coupe
This 1932 Ford is one of the Hot Rods that was built far away from the big cities and surrounding inspiration.
Lars Skogberg from Norsbron in Värmland county started building it in 1964 from a wreck.
As the car was in so bad shape, Lars did an overall restoration replacing old parts with new to get the best quality.
By the time for registration 1969 Lars had spent 36 000 SEK in the car which was very much money at that time!
The registration went well and the car was dated as a 1966 year Ford model.
The stock frame was equipped with a 302 CSB with LT1 heads, Edelbrock manifold and a Holley 600 cfm carb.
A B-W 4-speed gearbox sends the power back to a Chevy 10-bolt rear end.
In front, Lars kept the axle but lowered 2 1/4" with Monroe Super 500 shocks and disc brakes with calipers from Kelsey-Hayes.
The wheels are also Kelsey-Hayes 6x14" with tires from Pos-A-Traction. Steering box comes from a Corvair.
Many parts are from European cars like rear shocks and coils from Volvo resp. Saab. The tail lights are from Ford Taunus etc.
The body roof was not repairable so Lars took from another Ford 1932 coupe and fitted to the body.
To cover this modification Lars dressed the whole roof with black vinyl that gives the car an unusual look.
Interior holds two bucket seats, roll cage and dashboard in black vinyl with Moon- and Stewart-Warner gauges.
Lars used the car a lot, recently we found some pictures from 1970 of the car at Santa Pod Raceway in England!
As a "lone-wolf" in the Värmland forest, the car was not observed for the rest of the country until it showed up
at dragracing events at Mantorp Park 1976 and the "Hot Rod Parade". The year after we saw it at Hot Rod Show 1977 Sollentunamässan.
Lars kept the car until 1994. He sold it to two guys who had it for a year and 1995 sold it to Kalle Johansson in Askersund, Värmland.
Kalle ran it for some years, then other car projects took all the time. But in 2015 it got dusted off, Kalle succeeded to register it again properly
and attended Kumlingens Rod Run in Kumla. The car looks the same as in the 1970s and that will be the intention forward says Kalle.
Lars does not regret he sold the car, running a Harley MC and a Beach Buggy instead he enjoys the summer.
We are happy this car is still alive and kickin'!
