Joe Hernandez' 1940 Mercury
1940 Mercury owned and restyled by Joe Hernandez of Tucson, Arizona. Joe nosed, decked and shaved the door handles to achieve a cleaner appearance. The side trims were shortened on the hood. The stock bumpers were discarded in favor of 1937 DeSoto ripple bumpers. He chopped the top, and made similar rear quarter windows as Nick Matranga's 1940 Mercury. When the bodywork was done, Joe painted it in a beautiful maroon color. As a final touch, 1947-52 Cadillac Sombreros and spotlights were installed. Air ride was installed to improve the drivability. The interior was done in white to contrast the exterior.[1]
