Irwin Lee of Turlock, California was a member of the Modesto Century Toppers Car Club. He was born in 1927, and lived all his life in Turlock.[1]

In 1949/1950 Irwin had a brand new, black 1949 Ford. It had a 'full house' Offenhauser equipped engine and Orvel "Speed" Reichert remembers Irwin beating the hell out of some pretty hot roadsters in a drag race. They would accelerate away until he got into his top gear and then he would kick their butts![1]

Irwin was rather famous locally as he was the rider of Bus Schaller's lakes motorcycle. Schaller was also from Turlock, and specialized in cam-grinding racing camshafts. Irwin drove the bike at Bonneville in 1949 at 150.50 MPH. That was the top speed for a bike at that time but it was not a world record as they did not have the international folks there to certify it![1]

Irwin was drafted in late 1950 and served at Inchon, Korea in a PX center next to Orvel "Speed" Reichert's Engr. Base Depot.[1]
