“Vintage Iacocca . . . He is fast-talking, blunt, boastful, and unabashedly patriotic. Lee Iacocca is also a genuine folk hero. . . . His career is breathtaking.” —Business Week
I stumbled across this book at a flea market in Oslo, Norway. Iacocca is a familiar and respected name often brought up in good company with Ford's popular Mustang. A couple of months prior to finding this book I had seen the Ford v Ferrari movie, a movie I can highly recommend to everyone. Holding the book in my hand I came to think about the scene in the movie where Iacocca is visiting Enzo Ferrari in Italy. I figured it had to be worth the 2 bucks they were asking for it. I brought it home and started reading it the same night. I'm still reading it, and I must admit that it is quite a fascinating story. I have not come across any hot rod or custom car material yet, but I'm very impressed by Lee, a son of Italian immigrants that fights his way up to become the president of Ford Motor Company. Working his way through the ranks he launches the Ford Mustang, a car that changed the automobile industry in the 1960s. Then Henry Ford II stabs him in the back, and forces him to leave the company. Iacocca then joins Chrysler and he goes on to save the big company from near bankruptcy. I can highly recommend this book to everyone that wants to read a book about automotive history. A business book about a folk hero and a leader.
