Hirohata Merc: Custom Legend is a documentary about the legendary Hirohata Merc made by the Historic Vehicle Association. Made in partnership with Hagerty, Petersen Automotive Museum, and The Rodder's Journal, the 33-minute long documentary was released on YouTube in August of 2020. The documentary contains great video, footage, and interviews with people such as Junior Conway, Greg Sharp, Pat Ganahl, and Jim McNiel.


The 1951 Mercury Sports Coupe built by Barris Kustoms aka "The Hirohata Merc" is the embodiment of the custom car craze that became popular in post-WWII America! This chopped Merc helped set the trend for many custom cars to follow and made an indelible mark on America’s automotive history!
