Hilton Vail's 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 of San Bernardino, California. Hilton was an active member in the San Bernardino Krankers car club from 1958 to 1961. He bought the Ford brand new, and completed the build circa 1958.

Hilton Vail of San Bernardino, California. Hilton has a cousin Ellis, that also is cousin with Junior Conway on his mother's side. Conway used to work for Barris, and Ellis lived in Lynwood, so when Hilton drove up to Lynwood, he and Ellis would stand and watch George Barris and his men work in the shop. Hilton remembers that there were chains you had to stand behind so you wouldn't walk in their way. At the time, Junior Conway's 1950 Ford and Duane Steck's 1954 Chevrolet were two of the most magnificent customs in Southern California according to Hilton.
