Erv Castro's 1953 Ford
1953 Ford restyled by Joe Bailon of Bailon's Custom Shop for Erv Castro of Oakland, California. The hood was peaked and shaved, the deck lid was shaved as well to give it a smoother look. Joe frenched and hooded the headlights by using 1953 Mercury headlight rims. A straight grille bar was installed in the grille cavity and slotted with Mercury teeth, expanded metal screen was fit behind the bar. Air scoops were built above the frenched taillights, Joe also made a set of airscoops in the rear fenders in front of the wheels. The body was painted rose and white, separated by the 1955 Pontiac trim, the top was painted black. Gill Beitto of Western Top Shop in San Leandro stitched up a new interior in rose and white pleated and rolled leather.[1]
