Cam'n Coilers Reliability Run and Auto Show 1957

The first annual Cam'n Coilers Reliability Run and Auto Show was held June 2, 1957. The run started at the Santa Clara County Fair Grounds in San Jose. The object of the run was to go from the starting point to the finish point obeying all traffic regulations. Before the run numerous test runs were made and the average elapsed time of the group runs was used as the ideal safe time. The contestant that who came closest to the ideal elapsed time won the run. The winner of the race won a 1953 Oldsmobile V8 engine that was donated by Valley Auto Wreckers. The auto show was held at the finish area.[1]
