Bruce Schwartz was a member of the Embers So. Cal. car club. Around 1959, he went to work for Joe Andersen at Joe Andersen's Custom Shop. While working for Joe, Bruce lived in the office of Joe's shop. After a while Bruce became more interested in drag racing and went to work as a crewman on a fuel dragster. Other crew positions on other dragsters followed, and he lost interest in the show car scene and was preoccupied with drag racing. He sold his 1958 Chevrolet to a guy named Jack Shishido of Gardena, California, and eventually lost track of the car.[1]

Since then Bruce has been a drag race sponsor of a Super Gas car and a nitro Funny Car. Then, he bought his own dragster that he drove in Super Comp before he moved up to Super Eliminator. His latest class was Top Dragster. In addition to owning and driving his own dragster, Bruce is also an NHRA announcer. He announced for Division 7 races, the Street Legals and Junior Drags at Pomona. He has also been a Master of Ceremonies at several awards banquets for drag racing.[1]

In 2000 Bruce went to work at California Dragway at California Speedway in Fontana, California and worked every race, every week end for 9 years. The track is now known as Auto Club Dragway at Auto Club Speedway. He is no longer full time at that venue, but he do announcing work by contract when called.[1]
