Bob Stokke's 1924 Ford
1924 Ford Model T Roadster Pickup owned by Long Beach Knights member Bob Stokke of Long Beach, California. Bob's pickup actually started out as a 4 door phaeton, which was cut behind the rear seat. A plywood bed was made, fit with 1939 Ford taillights and a Model a dash light as license plate light. The engine came from a 1948 Ford, and was bored 3 3/8" and de-stroked 3 5/8" to 259 cui so he could compete in the under 260cui class. This made the bore/stroke ratio closer to square than many of the other cars competing in that class. The upholstery was done by Joe Ambrose of Long Beach. The blisters in the hood, were only for looks. Once completed, the car was painted International Red lacquer. The fellow members in the Knights car club pinched in a lot, helping Bob build the car.[1]
