Bob Hirohata was the original owner of the famous Hirohata Merc. Bob fabricated all the plastic knobs that were used in the Hirohata Merc. He also made the door and dashboard knobs used in Tats Gotanda's 1959 Chevrolet Impala, the Buddah Buggy. Other cars that featured taillights and dashboard-knobs by Bob were Bill Carr's 1955 Chevrolet Convertible and Jack Stewart's 1941 Ford coupe. The dash knobs gained popularity, and was soon put into production by Cal Customs.
