Barney Christopher and his “Christopher & Sons Mfg.” shop was a leading custom fender skirt manufacturer. Barney advertised his skirts as custom skirts made to order, and according to Tim Sykes, the “Chris Bubble Skirts” were very popular in Canada in the 1950s. In 1949 Carlo and Hugo Rossini opened up “Rossini’s Hot Rod Shop” in Chatham, Ontario. Every week Hugo would drive over to Michigan to pick up a supply of parts and accessories for resale in his shop. Hugo told Tim that he was ordering 12 pairs of Bubble Skirts a week from Barney back in the 1950s.
