Art Chrisman of Compton, California is a hot rod pioneer.

Art began racing at the dry lakes of Southern California. He evolved to the dragstrip, where he became the first to pilot a drag car to 140 mph in the quarter mile with his Draggin Wagon.[1]

Chrisman went on to work for Autolite, ForgedTrue Pistons and Ed Pink before opening up Chrisman Auto Rods Specialities with his son Mike.[1]

Art passed away in July of 2016.
