Arne Haga's 1940 Chevrolet
1940 Chevrolet owned by Arne Haga of Oslo, Norway. Arne got the car from Birger, owner of the "kløfta-skroten" in Kongsvinger. Arne got the car for free, and he drove it home on the back of his dad's flatbed truck. The Chevrolet was used as an ice-racer car in the 1960s, and the handle on the deck lid had been removed. Inside, it had a 1955 Chevrolet steering wheel, and a Moon gas pedal.Arne got the stock inline six engine to fire up, installed chrome spoke wheels on white walls and used it with the faded blue paint until the engine blew. He stripped the car down, installed a 283 Chevrolet V8, and got his mom to upholster it in white leather and red velour. He painted the first version by himself. At the time, he worked at chrome shop in Waldemar-Tranes street, so he had the opportunity to chrome everything that would unbolt, including the rear axle and the rest of the suspension, and a lot of the engine components. He installed taillights from a 1957 Volvo PV, and the directional lights were taillights from a 1939 Volvo PV. Martin Nuzzi, the creator of the Flåklypa Bilen installed the louvers on the hood. The louvers were originally of an electrical fuse cabinet, Arne cut them out, and had Martin to weld them in. He installed a spotlight on the driver side, and installed a GT steering wheel. He fit the car with disc brakes, by using discs from an Opel Commodore, while the calipers and brake booster were from a Toyota Crown. He hadmade the shaded on the headlights as well, along with the trim on the hood. A record player was installed, a must of the time. He used it a while without the bumpers, but later he installed the bumpers and got a paint shop in Aurskog to repaint it for 10000 kr. At some point, he installed a sun visor and Astro Supremes. He sold it in 1988, and the car is now located in Lillestrøm.[1]
