Alfa Romeo BAT

The Alfa Romeo BAT (or Berlina Aerodinamica Tecnica) is a series of Italian concept cars. The cars originated from a collaboration project between Alfa Romeo and the Italian design house Bertone that began in 1953. Three cars were built: the BAT 5 in 1953, the BAT 7 in 1954, and finally the BAT 9 in 1955. Franco Scaglione designed all three cars.

Gordon Vann's Fiat Abarth of Walnut Creek, California. Gordon ran and operated Gordon Vann's Body Shop in Berkley. Kit Sagen was Vann's neighbor in 1961, and in 2019, he told Sondre Kvipt of Kustomrama that to his recollection, Vann built the car for himself; "I know he eventually sold it. It was red, and I think aluminum. This was built when sports cars were not mainstream in California but were gaining in popularity with sports car clubs and raceways popping up. A 1956 Studebaker Hawk Bat Custom that was advertised for sale on eBay in October of 2023. According to the ad, the car was built more than 50 years ago. Inspiration seems to have come from the BAT 7. Located in Clermont, Florida, it was listed with a Buy It Now price of US $17,900.00. Click here to check out the eBay ad.
