In May of 1963, Malik won an award for having the Best Judged car at the Spring-O-Rama auto show in the Rockford Armory with the Trendero. He also won award for Best Paint and first in the Radical Division with the car.
Mark Moriarity of Mounds, Minnesota bought the Trendero from John Malik in 2004. When he bought it, the car had been stored inside since the New York Worlds Fair in 1965. March 2010, the Trendero was advertised for sale on the HAMB. The asking price was $32,000 USD.
