George Pillion's 1955 Chevrolet
1955 Chevrolet Convertible owned by George Pillion of Whippany, New Jersey. An early version of George's Chevrolet was featured in Motor Life May 1957. This version featured 1956 Pontiac side trim, shaved doors operated by electric push buttons, and rear fenders that were extended 10 inches. The extended finders had pointed shades that were crafted over 1956 Oldsmobile taillights. The hood was smoothed off, and the stock grille had most of the vertical bars removed. The extended rear fenders and the continental kit made the car appear longer than it actually was.[1]
In 1960, a second version of George's Chevrolet was displayed at the Hartford Autorama. This version was restyled by Korky's Kustom Shop. Named "The Sportsman," the frontal area on George's Chevrolet was heavily restyled featuring two scoops above the grille. The grille was fit with a pair of 1958 Edsel headlights. Four fins were grafted onto the rear of the car. The frame was C'd, and the car lowered front and back.[2]
